EGR tube nipples on '94 2.3L Ranger? - Help!
Fellas,
My EGR tube on my '94 2.3L Ranger broke in half at the bottom nut. So I was going to replace it with an EGR tube from a '93 2.3L Ranger.
However, the '93 EGR tube does NOT have the two small hose nipples coming off of it like the '94 EGR tube has on it.
The two hoses run up to a silver box, which is maybe 3" square and it also has a wire connection running in/out of it.
Questions:
-- Will it hurt anything to run my '94 without using those two hoses?
-- Will it even run without those two hoses?
Thanks in advance for any & all advice/comments, Guys!

I am pretty sure that is the exhaust gas backpressure sensor, which is used to regulate EGR flow. You need it.
I would either 1)patch the original with an external band-aid or a piece of high-temp hose similar to that used to connect the little box to the EGR tube. It is special hose & freakingly expensive, or 2)get thee to a boneyard and find a newer model EGR tube.
I don't think there is any short cut in this situation.

Hey Tom,
Thank you a bunch for your help/assistance with my EGR tube dilemma..... I figured it was there for a necessary reason, but I just needed it confirmed...don't ask me why.
OK, FINE -- it's back off the boneyard with the hopes of locating one that I can get off without problems. Around these parts 16+yr old Rangers are not so plentiful.....
I hope you have a GREAT day!
