Yes the cat will work fine and it won't hurt the motor. The larger cat is spec'd for the HD trucks because they are designed to work harder and when doing so produce more polutants, so a larger cat is necessary to control those emissions. But if you're just driving it around the motor won't produce any more emissions than the same motor in an F150, so the slightly smaller cat will do.
