Speedometer Cable & Gauge

Speedometer Cable & Gauge
I just installed a new gear and cable on my 55 F100 3-Speed with OD. The cable went easy into the back of the gauge then I tightened the retaining nut to hold the cable in place.
When I went to test it I heard a clicking noise (cable turning) but the speedometer is not moving. I unplugged and re-inserted and the same thing.
Anyone have this issue? Could my speedometer be stuck?

Either the cable is broken inside the case, or your gears are not properly meshed.
Make sure the inside cable is long enough, the retainer on the transmission drive gear is holding the gear in place on the cable (and you have the right gear), and there is enough cable sticking out of the other end to engage the speedometer without slipping out once it is tightened.

When I undo the cable from the back of the gauge and drive it is turning so I guess I need to make sure it's long enough. This is an over-the-counter cable made for the truck but I guess the fact that it's not working wouldn't surprise me. Seems like most of the reproduction parts don't fit right.
