Yet Another Tire Question??

I have a 1984 F-150 4x4 with a 8in suspension lift. I have 37-12.5/17r irok super swampers on there now. the look like slicks lol. Im gonna buy new ones but dont know what 2 put. i need spacers because they rub pretty bad but i think i can fit up 2 40s. its not really a daily driver but i dont have a trailer so I have to drive to whellin. I was thinking about bfg mud terrains? Looking for something thats ok on the street but still good in the mud. Might just keep theses for commute and put boggers on for the mud? And help would be great! Alot of the off road i do consist mostly of slippery but not deep mud some big mud holes and alot of trails. everyone has a jeep that i go with and are running 35in bfg mud terrain my truck is mostly used to pull them out lol. Thanks everyone.

measure how much room u have with the 37's on. 40's are 3 inch's bigger. but 1/2 of that gets put under the truck. so u need 1 1/2 inches extra clearence between all points of the fender. this will at leatst give u an idea. but putting a set on and checking is better. be carefull. the 1/2 ton won't like 40's.

lol I said I need wheel spacers I know that. The 2 front tires rub when I turn 2 sharp. I have around 1.75/2.5in at the smallest and largest gap from the wheel to the fender. And my be a stupid question but why wouldnt the f150 like 40s?

it's 1/2 ton. dana 44 front and 8.8 rear or 9 inch. not sure what came in those trucks. axels are to small. unluss you stay on the pavement. but offroading big tires and little axels usally doesn't work well. but if u are easy enouph on it u might make them last for a while.

Oh ya sorry for not being specific. Im waiting for the guy I bought the truck from to call me back because he said something about its not stock axels and he changed up the gearing. My wife bought it for me lol. it looks like the pumpkins have been recently serviced. alot of fresh tamper seal around there.

if it's been upgraded to dana 60's u can run 40's without a problem.you can even go up to 44 inch.

count your lug nuts. see if it's 5 lug or 8. i was looking at your pics looks like 5 lug. but those are some nice rims. i see why u want new tires. not much tread left there. lol. truck looks good reminds me of my first one.

the only problem I have with owning 2, or more, sets of tires and swapping them back and forth is you dont swap them as often as you'd think and the tires you want are never on the truck when you want them to be.

At first you might swap them almost weekly (I did) but as time passes it becomes more of a PITA! Then one day youre driving home from work and get a call for some recovery services only to realize youve got your street on and that will **** you off again.

luckily my street tires are 38.5 SXs

i thought about doing the switch to mud tires once i got to the mudhole, but my street tires are 450lbs a peice......lame
