If you want economical, I'd look at ebay. I'm looking at some on there now for the same truck actually - $25-30 for a DVD. I've never tried them so hopefully someone else can chime in on their quality. I've heard on some of them you have to change the date on your computer b/c they're an old release from Ford and won't work past a certain date - so you have to trick the program into thinking it's before that date. You can find actual ford paper manuals on there as well but all of them I've seen were in the $200 range.

You can buy access to the shop manual with electrical diagrams, TSBs and everything for less than ten bucks for 72 hours, about ten bucks for a month and something like 300 for a year. It's on Ford's website. I had to do some digging, but here's the link I found.

I purchased my books from HELM and they are well worth the price asked. I purchased volumes 1&2 plus the big book of wiring schematics. It is for the 2005 F series 250-550 series. I did have a CD-rom for one of my vehicles but as another OP stated sometimes the systems on the computer isnt the newest therefore you cannot read the disc.

You can get the same stuff from ALLDATAdiy.com :: Leading Source of Diagnostic and Repair Information. It is a subscription service, so you pay like $25 for the first year and significantly less after that for more years and more vehicles. And it is online.
But their are advantages to online. You can search. You can follow links right to what you want instead of searching through paper manuals. It has all the current TSB's and is regularly updated. And when you find what you want, you can just print out a couple of pages if you want it on paper.
Cost wise I think it is about the best you can find, unless you can get a cheapo off of E-Bay and don't mind messing with your computer clock to use it.

I had the Helm, Inc., books for my '97 F-150. They are awesome but pricey. I have an old laptop that I have "retired" to being my shop manual. I spent $40 or so on eBay and got the 2 DVD set. I miss being able to lay out the books to look at them, but having all the hot links to exactly what I need has spoiled me and I'll never go back to paper!
