Coolant in #1 Cylinder

I'm in the middle of an EGR Cooler delete along with new head gaskets and head studs because of a EGR Cooler leak. I was hoping none of the coolant made it into the cylinders but unfortunately there was coolant in #1 cylinder. I hadn't experienced any hydro locking symptoms before I tore it down...

Does anyone have experience with this? What are the chances of the cylinder being ok? What should I look for as far as damage to the cylinder etc when I get the head off?

Please help...

thanks

Aside from anything obvious, measure your piston to deck height and compare it to another cylinder or two just to make sure you dont have a shortened rod......But being that you said you didnt have hydro lock issues I doubt you will have any problems.

Is it very common to get coolant in cylinder #1? If so why #1 cylinder and not others?

Other than a shortened rod could the coolant score the cylinders? What would be an acceptable difference when comparing cylinders?

cyclinder #1 just happend to have an open exhaust valve. its not a big deal and wont hert a thing.

to check for a bent rod rotate the crankshaft and mske sure the top of the piston comes up over the block deck.

I have another question. The valve bridges appear to be forged. most of the valve bridges seam to have tear marks on them... I this normal?

No they are not all in the same spot... they look like tear marks in the side of the bridges. None of the tear marks are the same...

I will have to retake some pictures in the morning... I have a few but none of them are focused.

Its interesting not all of them have these tears only about 3/4 of them. I will email them to you late morning tomorrow...
