They had jack-o-lantern covers on some up until the mid to late 90's if I remember right. I know I've seen them when I stopped to fill up my truck & I didn't start driving until 95.

Sunset & Vine, with a twist...

WhatWasThere | Explore Photos

This "whatwasthere.com" site lets you overlay old pics on a new background...you can grab the "fade" bar up above the overlay to bring it in and out. Pretty cool.

Old, grainy, not too well produced but still pretty interesting. I'm thinking most of this was shot going down Alameda.

At around 12:25 you'll see a front view of the old LB Municipal Auditorium that was shown in several earlier photos back toward the beginning of this thread.

Great pic Steve. As a teen I worked at Woolworths - mopping, sweeping, stocking, and rarely cashiering. I didn't get to use the register that calculated change; had to do it in my head (a good thing in retrospect). I can still smell the boxes of Hong Kong merchandise fresh off the truck. As employee's we also got 10% off at Kinney's; alas they didn't have my size boats there. Got paid in cash each week; I think I even started a 60 month CD at some crazy amount like 13% interest. What a boyscout...

Down the street from FW was Thrifty's with those 10c cones.

I see that photo, and all I can think of is " One Adam Twelve, One Adam Twelve, see the man at 21000 Van Nuys Blvd, four five nine in progress, respond code three"
