I've been coming across a few of these lately on another site, and I thought I'd share...hope you'll do the same with old pics you find.
Here's US 101 being built, back when City Hall was the tallest building in town. Hall of Justice in the center. I'd like to know what the old building on the right is. edit: Keith (wb6anp) researched it and discovered the building in question to be the old Hall Of Records. Thanks for that Keith :-X22 http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._4622663_n.jpg Chavez Ravine..before Dodger Stadium: http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs220....9_960478_n.jpg http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._1581424_n.jpg http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._4455791_n.jpg http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos...7_733152_n.jpg http://photos-a.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._2976963_n.jpg Building the stadium: http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs220....3_384239_n.jpg http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs240...._4822219_n.jpg First St. bridge around the turn of the 20th century: http://hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net/hs139...._1372852_n.jpg First St. bridge in the early 1960's: http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._7729554_n.jpg First St. bridge today: http://cache4.asset-cache.net/xc/798...0A760B0D811297 Looking North up Atlantic Ave @ Whittier Blvd from the top of the Golden Gate Theater 1929: http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos..._5853226_n.jpg |

As the sign indicated, Girard was the original name of what is today Woodland Hills. At the same time, Canoga Park was named Owensmouth.
I'll have to take my camera to my barber's shop and grab some shots of photos hanging there. Pop |

The Rose Bowl as it neared completion in 1921. The massive earthmoving was done with Mule drawn scrapers.

Wonder if they used real sheep's feet to compact it all?
