Rotella 10w-40 T5 ???

Has anyone seen or used the Shell Rotella 10w-40 T5 Synthetic Blend engine oil? I saw this for the first time at my local Tractor Supply store. It meets all the same specs as the full synthetic Rotella and carries a price in between the dino and full synth oils. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this oil or had an oil analysis done on it. I was thinking of trying it, as I don't put an extreme amount of miles on my truck between oil changes. I have used synthetic blend Motorcraft oils in my wife's gassers for years with great results.

I just saw that yesterday too Roland. There are several new kinds of Rotella that I've never even heard of.

I guess I need to do some research on Shell's website and report my findings.

Thanks for posting this link Clint. Reps sent.

so, this thread died kinda fast. Anyone try it yet? I use the full synthetic now and would like to use dino but I get romps real bad in cold weather. Kinda hope this would be a good solution. I've seen it at TSC in a 10W40. $26 a gallon though. I'll keep shopping...

I was looking at Wally World last nite on the way home from work.. I need to do an oil change. I'm at 9000 miles on my T6 Rotella synthetic & was planning on going to 10,000 but I figure I better change it before I make the 900+ mile trek to Lead Hill in 2 weeks. Is this something new from Rotella?? a Synthetic "blend" ?? I'm just wondering how it will fair in an extended oil change & what kind of difference it will make in the winter? At almost 1/2 the price of the T6, it sounds appealing.. but just not sure its worth it if it doesn't help as much with the cold weather starting. I'm guessing it hasn't been out long enough for anyone to have an opinion on the stuff...

I ended up buying this last week. Plan to pour it in some time this week. The dino oil gives me the romps in cold weather. The full syn seems to be too light in the summer. I'm thinking this will be a good all around.
When JTHARVEY was selling the Schaeffers oil he recommended a blend because of my summer tow load. Guess that just always stuck in my head.

I am using the Delo 15w40 in my 2002 F350 with no issues, but the Shell Rotella 10w40
T5 sounds like a decent oil.

I may give it a try. If I put in in now, by the time I go to BTS & back I should have 2000 miles on it & maybe 5000 by november or december.. That way if I am not satisfied with the cold weather starting, I can change it out mid winter. I'm just not sure if I want to go 10,000 miles on this oil. I do like the T6 though.. I can go to work for 12 hours on the coldest days & just one cycle of the glow plugs & it fired right up with no romps.. I learned that the hard way, when I had the Rotella Dino in the previous winter.. It wasn't real happy starting after sitting at work for 12 hours.. The day I was a quart low on oil & attempted to pour in the quart I kept behind my seat (in a week of temps around 10 degrees) It was like molasses coming out of the container... Thats when I realized what the stuff must be like after a nite in my cold metal engine & went to Synthetic..

How does the synthetic pour at 10 degrees? Just curious because I never, ever plan on stepping foot outside if it's 10 degrees, so I'll never know. (or never really need to)
