Possible To Purchase Ford Extended Warranty @ 90k Miles?

Hi All,

Been a long time since I've owned a Ford truck and been a normal visitor of this site. I'm now in the market for a SuperDuty and have my heart set on a 6.0 Diesel from 05-07. The current truck I'm looking at is at a used car dealer with 95k miles that was purchased in May 2005- so the factory warranty should be good for another 5k miles or few months.

My question is- can I go to a Ford Dealership and purchase a Ford Extended Warranty for this truck even though I didn't purchase it there and what is the general cost?

This truck is completely stock, will remain stock, and be used for work- plowing/hauling. Thanks in advance.

You should be able to qualify for the Diesel care plan. It will take you out to '12 or 200K. After 60K, my understanding is that premium extended warranties are rare. After 100K, there is virtually nothing.

Best bet is to call your Ford dealers service department.

Not necessarily true. I got an aftermarket warranty when I purchased my truck ( with 126k on it) from Texas, but the company I got it thru ain't worth a pinch of crap. They were happy to take the money, but denied almost every claim except they paid for part of an alt when I had it at the Ford dealer for the FICM/injectors. Avoid Penn Warranty Corp!!!! Bigbluebronco, I'd call (or better yet go to) the dealer and explain your situation. You are still under the 5/100 then you should be good. They might want to thoroughly inspect the truck prior to OK'ing the ESP. As far as pricing, IIRC its around $2kish, but that would have covered all of the repairs I had last year which exceeded $7k. Good luck.
