'Pulled out the LBB and pulled in the War Machine for some electrical work, new cables, a dual battery system, and a set of four-note 'train horns' from a Cadillac Fleetwood.

Today's project

Still on the road. 42 years old!

Put the '73 instrument cluster back in and closed up the dash. All my lights are working except for the light on the ash tray. No power to it but I don't smoke so no problem. Took a test ride and speedometer was jumping around. Out with the instrument cluster, reset the speedo cable. Tested ok.
Seems like my instrument cluster light problem was related to an after market radio installation. It is out, wires cleaned up, fuse box cleaned, fuses all check.
She's 42 and back on the road!
Thanks to all who gave me the tips to get my lights back!!

I've done the horn install on my '78 and my moms '89. I mounted the horns on the '78 in the fenderwells protected by the liners. People can hear me coming a lot better than that wimpy old single chime.

Finally got around to taking the old gal in for an oil change and transmission service last Friday. She drove up onto the lift just fine and changed the oils. Went to pull it off and now it won't go into any gear. The transmission is less than a year old with less than 5000 miles on it. I remember it starting to slip when I drove cross country, but thought the filter was just dirty. Aren't C6's supposed to be bulletproof?

Bullet proof....yes for the most part. Did you do a trans service too? Did you flush the converter? Any chance something got disconnected?

We checked everything from the converter, to the throttle body, to the clutches. There was metal in the bottom of the pan, but not a lot, just normal breaking in of a new transmission. It might be the hydraulic pump, but we won't know until the transmission guy gives it a thorough going through.

I picked up a spare tire mount from a jeep YJ to bolt to my truck tool box to mount my spare 35" tire. With a 35" tire and tool box in a short bed there isn't much room left. It's much better off standing up.
