That's a nice looking truck! Trim will probably be added later when the paint is redone. I'm thinking racetrack trim with a candy blue and silver tu-tone. I love my bed cover too much to have bed rails though. I think yours would look just right with 35" BFG's

What bed cover is that, and do you have any better shots? Wish you would have bought a different model or real happy with that one? Thanks.

Bud Mud I don't know about those bed rails.... Looks like you could go 3inch taller tire on there, love the color, nice truck

Do you mean model of the bed cover? I'm very happy with it. I bought the cover for my '98 that I wrecked soon after. The 98 has a bed that's around 2 inches shorter than the 79 so the fit was off. I riveted a slice of sheet metal to the front of the bed so it would fit right. I'm very happy with it, especially since I did not have to buy another one. Pictures and details of the brand will be up later. This one is a 3 fold soft top cover. It's very light and is easily removed.

Cleaned up the bed a little.

Spent a lot of time with a wire brush grinding off the bigger rust piles.

Knocked out a few dents in the bed before hitting it with primer

The color match paint I ordered turned out okay.

The junkyard tailgate I picked up never would close properly. Well when I took it back off for painting I saw why. Rather than try to fix it, I will go back with the one that the PO put on the truck. Its been sitting in my back yard now for a while. Plenty of rusty and a little bit bowed in the middle but at least it closes on the latches. I'll have to keep the diamond plate tailgate guard because the top side is pretty beat up.

Wire brush seems to work best when removing all of the plastic filler. Slow and messy but I am taking it down to bare metal.

crappy i-phone shot of what its looking like now with the lift kit installed.

Pulled and re-sealed the oil pan. Did more poking prodding and scraping in nooks and crannies under the truck knocking old dirt and grime out, and I think I took most of it with me on my clothes.

Still dialing in my timing and carb. Pushed my timing a little higher, seems that may have gotten rid of my part throttle hesitation.

Yes sir, Rit dye, 3 gallons of hot water and that is all. I let them sit in the dye for probably an hour or so.
