draining fuel tank

I have a 2006 ford 5.4
Is there a way I can siphon the gas from the tank, by just simply putting a hose down the fill up hole and siphon? Or is there a blockage not allowing a hose get down there?

If that doesnt work, can I disconnect the fuel filter, and turn on the fuel pump some how, and have the pump drain the fuel for me out the fuel line?

What is the best way to drain the fuel tank on a 2006 ford 5.4
thanks

How full is the tank? Why do you want to drain it?

If you want to replace the fuel pump(and don't have a lift) I would just pull the box. Disconnect the fuel filler neck, a few harnesses at the back of the box and the frame to box bolts. then have a few guys help lift the box off the frame and move it to the back of the truck(I like to rest the front fender on the wheel and use either a jack stand our something of similar length under the rear of the box to balance it). You'll have full top access to the fuel pump WITHOUT having to drop the tank. This works especially good on chevy trucks(all 3 fuel pumps i've done on chevy's were this way).

i know on the 2003's, you could remove the fuel pump fuse under the hood, and then use a jumper wire, turn the key to on, and pump out your fuel. can i do this?

If you just want to siphon what's in there out, you can pull the fuel fill tube from the body and tank and insert siphon hose thru the fill tube opening. Just use stiff enough hose that it doesn't bend away from the bottom of the tank when you put it in there. If memory serves me correctly, there is a check ball in the inlet tube to prevent spills in the event of roll over.

As per the manual, you can disconnect the filler neck at the tank and insert a siphon hose into the take(the manual actually says use a pump to pump it out, but a siphon works too). You may need to place a jack under the tank with a piece of wood between the jack and tank and loosen the tank straps a bit to get the tank low enough to get your hands in there to get the worm clamp off the filler neck.

thank you guys. I will definately be doing it as your suggested way. I never thought it would ever tell you how to drain the tank in the manual.
Thanks for answers! Just the answer I was looking for , never even thought of that way
