Looking for performance upgrades...
5.4L 3V, 09 F-250.
Looking to upgrade the intake, install headers, and a cat back exhaust system with a dual side exit exhaust if possible.
Need some suggestions. I already know about 5 star for the tune, I'm just looking for some power adders, however slight they may be, before tying them all together.
And yes, I already know about re-gearing, but that's not what I'm looking for.
Thanks guys.

Edelbrock has a supercharger for the 09 5.4L, F150. Not sure if it will work on an F250.

Ha! There are very few upgrades "directly" available for the 5.4L 3V engines in the Super Duty trucks. That said, there are parts that were originally designed for the F150 truck that can be adapted to the F250/F350 trucks.
Headers - I've been looking to install long-tube headers for over a year. I've been looking at the Pacesetter headers and the OBX headers, both are available on eBay. I have written confirmation from Ruk Industries that they re-sell the Pacesetter headers and have customers who have installed these on F250/F350 trucks. If the Pacesetters fit, I "assume" that the OBX headers will fit as well.
Here is the email response received on 12/28/2009 from Ruk Industries:

Yes these are Pacesetter headers. The listing should reflect the manufacturer. If it doesn’t we will change it. In regards to your question… Yes we have had a number of customers install these on an F250. The headers fit F150 or F250 2 or 4 WD. Its usually better to get them with the 3” diameter Y-pipe that goes with them for easier installation. You can just get the headers, but like all headers they will require some minor fabrication/cutting/fitment. Our last set was sent out last week before Christmas. If you are interested in these headers let us know. We would actually need to order these in because we sold out of them in our store. (Not on eBay). The number that is reflected in the stock is incorrect because of our offline sales. Just wanted you to be aware of that.<o></o>
The ceramic coating available for the headers and Y-pipe is Black, or bright silver. Polished is extra. Black is the best coating to go with for performance. It has the highest heat rating and the best durability. It also doesn’t require any maintenance like the polished finish does. If you have any other questions please let us know. Thanks<o></o>

The company does custom head work on the various Ford modular engines. Below is my original inquiry and their response received on 10/20/09:
My original inquiry:
Hey Guys,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

I’ve been looking at your 5.4L 3V head services for some time now. I’m looking to significantly improve the performance of my 2005 F350 Super Duty, which has the 5.4L 3V engine. I have a few questions…<o></o>
<o> </o>
1. What “Stage” do you recommend for best overall performance? <o></o>
<o> </o>
2. I see that you no longer offer Stage 5 and Stage 6 levels… why?<o></o>
<o> </o>
3. Do you offer cams to support the modified heads? <o></o>
<o> </o>
4. If I brought the truck to you, can you do a “turn key” installation?<o></o>
<o> </o>
Thanks!<o></o>

Andrew
The company's response:
Asaine,
Thanks for the look-see, we do not offer installation service, sorry. The Stage 5-6 3V heads were highly modified heads. I never had any inquires for them, or no sales for them I should say, so I pulled the top two terrs and concentrated on the ones that got the most attention. The 3v head is pretty new, compared to the other styles and they will gain favor as the engine gets older. Once the cars start getting past the first 4-5 years and they get paid off, then people start looking to modify them.
I would simply recommend a good set of valves and springs to go along with a wedge port for your truck. Thanks

Finally, have you seen the thread regarding the install of the Whipple supercharger on the Super Duty 5.4L 3V trucks?

I'm not up on the newer 3V trucks but I can tell you your best to just start right out with a supercharger.
And the OBX headers are stainless,so even though there a little more money.Your better off going with headers that wont rust.
The ceramics will rust...just slower then the painted ones.

Gibson makes 4 cat-back exhaust kits for the 2008 F250 CC that probably could be shortened (mid-pipe) to fit your application. See Post # 4 in the thread below.
