I noticed on mine when I have the plow on and driving the heater gets all screwed up for some reason. Seems to be ok without the plow on.

Im not much on the dash end of things, Im an engine guy. but heres what I can guess at.
1 low coolant level
2 failing controll head
3 failed blend door accuator.

With the work you just had done my guess is low coolant level and a big empty air pocket that keeps the degas bottle full.

When my coolant went low due to a blown radiator, the first thing I noticed was no heat.

koboss, your engine is getting up to temperature, right? You probably checked this but when I read over this thread I didn't hear you say anything other than the coolant was hot...

Is your coolant warming all the way to 190? If no digital gauge is your instrument panel gauge reading in the middle like it normally does?

crazy, yeah its up to temp the gauge reads just left of centre, this morning when i checked the coolant level it was down below the venturi t spout, the dealer told me to come in it was acting up.. guess whats next...

the tech checks it.. says it is up to fill marks and then i drove it and had all kinds of heat??? it is alot milder today -3 not -22 like on the weekend.. i dont get it where is this coolant hiding..

as you know I'm into 3 different threads now on this coolant issue. I have only noticed like I said above no heat when plow was on and driving. This has happened before..I turned the heat way up to 85 deg. and it kicked in. With no plow it has always been normal. Maybe I've missed something.

You probably had an air pocket in the heatercore. For some reason, automotive cooling systems seem to have a hard time pushing out air pockets.

O'k finally got the truck into the dealer and out for a ride with the tech when it was blowing cold air. he said he never seen one acting this wierd... great!

so he said that one coolant hose coming out of the heater core was cold and the other was screaming hot? he's thinking plugged heater core, and im thinking maybe this is where my coolant is going!!
if this heater core is leaking would it leak under the carpet so you wouldnt see it??

hopefully find out from the hotline later today..CHEEZIT.. what do you think

there maybe a drain on the heater core that goes to the outside like your ac unit. Otherwise I would think you could at least smell the coolant from inside.

Smells funny..How can a heater core get plugged up on a new truck?

Did you have him test the EGR stuff? My tech said right off it should be pukeing anything.

yeah capt, ive had them check the egr like 5 times now.. they said they have.. they put new EGR valve on but know coolers, thats what i said how does a heater core get plugged??? personally i still think it is the horizontal cooler pluged but what do i know im just a beef farmer.

im just glad they actually seen this blowing cold air, cause once you drive around town for a half hour it blows straight heat and doesnt act up..

got me.. on another note at the bottom of my main thread page, it says "You may NOT post ATTACHMENTS" whats up with this? am i the blacksheep or do i have to have so many posts first.

koboss
