"check break system"

Hi, new member, did a search and could not find any info.

i have 2009 f250 6.4 cc. about 45k. i get a "check break system" message in the dash every time i start the truck. took it to the dealer, they said it was a "bad switch" in the dash, replaced it and charged me $350. the message went away for a couple days but came back. went back to dealer and they are stumped.

anyone have this problem? know what it is/what to do?

thanks, mike

that is a new one. don't think I have ever heard anyone with this complaint. I suppose you have the hydroboost brakes?

Did you check your power steering fluid level. Brake Fluid level as well?

Senix, dealer had the truck for a total of 2 days, my guess would be that they went over everything brake related, but i am not 100%

dealership is usually very good, service my 2002 7.3 also.

Sounds like you have an ABS problem. Could be a wheel speed sensor or wiring issue. Could also be more serious than that. Can you tell us which sensor they replaced? It should be on your invoice.

This happened to me...the brake system message.....The dealer resolved this with Fords help. Your batteries are going bad..have your dealer check the batteries, one or both of them are bad...it only took one to cause this ...check brake system message to appear.
The heat that the 6.4L engine ....make the batteries go BAD....this is what ford told my service advisor. The check brake system message...would come on in the morning and maybe sometime through the day. Also some elect...noise behind the dash would be heard at times. I sure hope this helps....keep us informed....

Wow, that is also happening to me. I posted a few times weeks ago because my truck was cold starting poorly, and now it all makes sense. I must have a bad battery cause in the morning I get the check brake system light also when i start the truck.

Either one or both batteries are bad. I had the same message appear on a cold start every time once the weather turned cold. When I turned the key it also had a delay starting. I would release the key and it would continue cranking. I mentioned to the lead tech that I had read about this problem on FTE and told him that I suspected a bad battery. Another tech said that it was the electric trailor brake. When the truck was returned to me they had replaced both batteries. Hope this helps you out. It drove me nuts for about a month.
