2wd and 4wd body variations

What is different between the 2wd and 4wd bodies? I have a 63 f250 4x4 and I replaced the entire body with a 2wd, and needed to install a 3 inch body lift to have the same body height. My question is has anybody ever run accross this and what did they do other than a body lift?

first you did not mention where the replacement body came from, not that it matters, if you didn't change any of the drive train there should have been no change in the height. the only difference in all the slicks ( tin) is that the 65,66 had a little bit different design in the floor structure on the 4x2"s than the 4X4's. i.e. the 4x4's have a step inside the door where the 2x4's do not on the custom cabs. it's a bit strange that there was a three in diff. dutch

It's the frames that are different........4x4 frames are basically straight (level) on top, 2wd are not. I took a box from a 63 2wd and put on a 62 4x4....had to add lift blocks to make it line up. Had the two trucks side by side, they are definately different. Don't know why.......t/m

63 2WD trucks are pretty much the same as the other years monus the integral bodied trucks.
2 and 4WD differences...front fenders, lower valance panel

this is for all 61-4 trucks minus integral bodied rigs...doors are also unique to the integral bodied trucks due to the straight line scallop vs the kick up on the other models.
65 and 6 cabs are the same so long as its from a 65 F100 or 250 or 350 or a 66 F250 or 350...F100 4WD in 66 used the 65-6 2WD type...
