Transmission swap on 302

I was wanting to use my 302 from my 89 F150 in my 56 F100 Right now the motor has a manual transmission on it and I was leaning on maybe changing from manual to auto when I moved the motor. Anybody know the auto transmission which go's with the 302 motor in a 89 F150. Over the years I've gotten osteo-arthritis in the toes and feet which make a clutch padel kinda hard on the feet. Any numbers and info would be appreciate. <!-- / message --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- sig -->

Any of the afore mentioned transmissions will work fine. Any transmission you find with the correct, small block bellhousing will fit the back of a 302. The year doesn't matter, except that you need to make sure the flexplate is of the 50oz. imbalance variety, used after 1981 on Ford 302's. Using an earlier 28oz. flexplate will create a huge engine vibration, and sure early destruction.

They'll all work, but the C6 is pretty big and heavy - unnecessarily so - if you aren't going to drive hard, tow, or carry a lot of cargo. It will require some extra modifications in the truck.

I'd go with the AOD or a C4.
