49,000mi 07 Exped EL w/couple questions

The Wifes 07 Expedition El turned 49,000 miles and I have a couple of questions. I replaced the brake pads and found that the rear pads were very thin and the fronts had maybe 6 months so I changed them as well. Used Napa premium pads and so far so good. I never really liked the pedal from day one but the brakes are much better now with new pads. Is there any fix for the soft pedal?

I was pleased to get 48,000 mi from the Pirelli str. Replaced with Hurcules terra trac at. They have a revo like tread. Not to noisey and better in the slop than the Pirelli's, got a great price. Noted problem is the lug nuts. Tire store mangled the lug nuts; most are dented and some split. Looks like they have a chrome cover as they are not solid all the way through. Is there an aftermarket lugnut to replace, as these will start to rust soon?

Last question I seem to have an exhaust leak. It happens upon start up and goes away after a minute or so. Briefly looked around and under truck and can not find it. Seems to be around manifold on passenger side. Any thoughts?

Have owned 98,01,04 and now 07 and this is the best one so far!

The problem with the lugs is not the lugs, it's the tool the tire shops use to remove them. The socket does not fully cover the lugs and the pressure is placed in the middle which leaves marks, and can break them.

The soft brakes are a Ford thing. Not a lot can be done. Had it on all my Fords since new.

How hard was it to replace the pads? Dealer say my rear pads will need to be replaced soon.

I don't think it's that hard, but you should resurface your rotors whenever you put new pads on. This helps with the material transfer from the new pad to the rotor.
