4x4 Frames

I'm hunting for a rolling chassis for a 1969 4x4 ford pickup. I talked to a guy who has one for a 1975 3/4 ton. When I told him that in 1973 Ford extended their wheelbase by two inches he said that all you had to do is swap the rear spring packs. He said that the frames are the same but Ford changed the back springs to gain the 133" wheelbase. I have a cherry 1969 2x4 and want to convert. I turned the guy down thinking that he was trying to sell me a bill of goods. Ever hear of this?

Dav, I think you made the right choice. I was going to use a 76 under a 66 but there are elevation differences as well as wheelbase differences. If you doubt measure from the back side of the front bumper to the hangers, axle for both frames and get your own answers. I did this for a 2wd, but the measuring will still work.

I think you would be miles ahead if you just bought yourself a 4X4.
