Ride quality difference between D series and E series load rated tires?

I currently run a 37" BFG Mud T/A (radial) tire on a stock susp 79F250. (has 3" body lift)

I'm unhappy with the ride quality and i'm considering a custom leaf/damper setup from Deaver Spring. (ALL IN THE NAME OF RIDE QUALITY...CURRENT SETUP IS TOO ROUGH/BOUNCY)

At the same time I woudl like to go to a more road-oriented all-terrain (radial) tire in 35".

I'm considering getting an "E" load rating tire in the event I ever decide to pull an open trailer with car/truck...say less than 7k lbs total.

Is there a big difference in ride quality with the E rated tires over less ratings? I'd hate to spend all that money on the Deavers and then buy tires that ride like they're filled with concrete.

it all depends on the brand and stuff. ive noticed yes, it does make a difference. i went from 31 inch E tires on my 75 to 36 inch Es and the ride is soooooo much better. the smaller tire will ride stiffer no matter what because theres less sidewall. thats if you were comparing E tires. going to a smaller tire with the same load rating is going to stiffen your ride, it just depends on how much by the brand and other factors.

Thanks for posting....

What I'm wondering is, will there be a difference between a 35" E tire and 35" D tire??

Also......you live in Pittsburgh, right?

Where abouts? I live in Washington County.

Check out pgh-offroad.com if you get a chance. (unless you're already on there?)

You're gonna be really hard pressed to notice any real world seat of the pants difference between a load range E (10ply) tire and a load range D (8ply) tire of comparable size.

I think it depends more on brands than it does comparing a BFG Load E versus a Dunlop Load D.

There were some 18" Load E BFG TA/KO's mounted on an F150 at work that rode like a brick. Another F150 had Load D Continentals that rode like couch.

ill have to check that forum out. im 4 miles from monongahela, towards elizabeth. really small town. id say comparable tires, your not going to notice much of a difference. if anything, its going to be stiffer, if you really pay attention.
