Question Need a clutch pedal bracket for a '55 F100

<!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message --> <!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_start --> <!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_start --> Hey Guys!

I'm changing from a T98 4 speed to a T86 3 speed with a R10 overdrive. I looks like my clutch support bracket from the 4 speed won't work on the 3 speed. Any ideas? Are all the 3 speed clutch pedal brackets the same, or do I need to find the specific one for this trans?

Pardon my ignorance...but what exactly is a clutch support bracket?

Where does it mount, what is its function?

I don't know if that's what it's called, but it is the bracket that is attached to the transmission that the clutch/brake pedal pivot shaft connects to. Guess I should do more research on the proper name for it!

All the 3 speeds I have seen use the same bracket. You just missed one on e-pay. Sometimes MidFifty's has used parts, maybe try a call, it's small enough to ship cheap. Cheers.

Looks like the one on my T98 4 speed. Is that the same one for the 3 speed? If so, does anyone have a picture of how it attaches to the 3 speed?

Bill,
Thanks for all the info! Am I correct in that the part pictured on ebay is the actual part? If so, I have it already! How does it mount onto a T86 3 speed??

Wow! some how I missed your post! Which 3 speed is it that you have? Mine is a T86-E with an R10 overdrive. It has a plate on top like a top loader. It doesn't have the raised places to mount the bracket. Can you post a picture of the stuff you have or send me an email?

There is no bracket for the T86 for your truck because Ford did not use that trans for '53-'55. You will have to fabricate some kind of bracket. here are a couple of pictures with various 3 spd trans. for the '53-'56

you got a different 3 speed than mine had . so i dont think it's gonna be feasible for my part to fit . it may take me a bit , due to the work schedule and i got stuff scattered around in a couple different places , and a 91 bird in peices in my garage . so be patient and after i get done putting up xmas lights this weekend i'll search and see what we come up with ...................... you know after looking again i recant , that bracket is very much the same as mine , i will look !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
