2006 Steering Gear & Teflon Seal(s) ... How Many?
Hoping to find someone who has had the "privilege" of changing their 05-07 steering gear and/or had to disconnect/reconnect the gear fluid fittings for some reason.
The shop manual calls for the replacement of TWO of the p/n 388898 Teflon Seals (does'nt say anything about any rubber o-rings).
Upon my disassembly (2006 model)...
On the gear-to-cooler line, I found a teflon seal located in a slot near the top of the threaded fitting. The threaded fitting also had a red (loctite?) sealant on the threads. The fitting would no slide freely up the metal line, it seemed to be fixed in its position. There was not a rubber o-ring present.
On the gear-to-hydroboost line, I found only a single rubber o-ring near the bottom of the metal line. The threaded fitting slid freely up the metal line. There was no "slot" at the top of the fitting for the teflon seal as on the gear-to-cooler line.
Can anyone confirm what I'm seeing here?? I'd hate to button it all up and have it leak.
