Flipping rear axle upside down?

Flipping rear axle upside down?
So I was replacing a leaky wheel seal when it grabbed my attention. It seems that it would be fairly easy to flip the whole axle upside down and get an extra 6 inches of clearance for big tires. I know there are probably a thousand reasons not to do this but... ya' know... has anybody been high/drunk enough to do that?

Running backward? Minor inconvenience! All I have to do is flip the tranny and the engine up side down then turn the whole van inside out. No big deal!
I have been driving for 21 years in a forward direction. It is soooo boring! Imagine, how much more fun we could have with a vehicle like that!
The point is someone has been drunk enough to do that.
