Where did you get your hinges from, if they from ebay A lot of people put them on there and think the the 53-55 hinges are the same as the 56, but the hinges are just a little bit different, can you post some pics? I will try to help you out the best that I can, but these hood hinges were very poorly designed (In fact they are the only thing that ford designed that I dont care for lol).

Having to push down on the rear of the hood to close it is unfortunately pretty common due to the design, I have to do this on occasion, and a good friend of mine has to every time he closes his hood. I purchased the little spring washers from MF and that seemed to help mine close a little better.

Hinge springs

Did you have to remove the hood to put the hinge springs on? I've heard that it's 'recommended' but I'm usually workin on it solo, so I'd rather not have to pull the hood unless I have to. (dang dog can't hold up his half of the hood, shoulda got a bigger dog)

Kyle,
Looks like you are making some fast progress on the new look. Keep the pictures coming.

DadOh1,
If the springs are weak they won't pull the rear of the hood down into place but if you use the center hood dowel pin (threading out will let the rear of the hood settle down) somtimes you can overcome the weak spring. I would try that first. You can just let your dog sleep while you do this.lol

Good luck,
brian...

Gravel Pan made, door handles, mirrors, and gas filler shaved! Almost time for the rear Bumper.
