1993 F150 Exhaust Manifolds - Gaskets?

Am I understanding correctly that the 1993 F150 w/302 5.0 does NOT have exhaust manifold gaskets ?

I just removed the passenger side manifold and there was no gasket but I have another question. What is the little round opening at the backside of the manifold? It has a little black like plunger type piece that I can move up and down with my finger from underneath. Should this be open, plugged, or should something be inserted there? There was nothing there before I remove the manifold and I can not locate anything that would have been there

No gaskets as stock, once removed, gaskets are required as casting will twist and warp after being untorqued from head.

Thank you OLD! What is the hole at the end of the passenger side manifold. About 3/4 with a black plastic plunger type piece that I can move up and down with my finger. Should this be open, plugged, or is there some type of sensor that should be inserted there? Maybe this is normal.

Front or rear of manifold?...........Front,.........maybe someone plugged the EGR port with a plug of some sort, rear.... possibly thermactor (air pump) Was anything attached to it in the beginning of job? I have not had a 302 truck in 10 yrs so my knowledge may be off, most of mine is in 351/460 trucks.

Rear of the manifold - I believe this is a manifold off another ford 302 - it says China on the backside and it did not have a gasket on it at all.

Yeah, just leave it alone then or put a better plug in it.......no harm.
Just remember, ANYTIME you remove a stock ex. manifold it will require a gasket, even if it was not equipped that way from the factory.

Mine did not come with gaskets.

I did however, use some to help remedy and exhaust leak.

If you do get gaskets, get Percy's. They are the best I have used and they are reusable.

Thank you once again OLD93 - I plan on plugging it with a brass plug once I get it out. I think it is going to take lots of PB Blaster

I tried to repond to your email, but it said you had specified that your account didn't want to recieve emails.

Most of the gaskets I have seen were the same on both sides. They are either metal or felt on both sides with metal in the middle. Of course there is also paper gaskets, but those shouldn't even be sold.

I believe that the metal side goes out toward the manifold.

What material is the other side of your gaskets, is it felt?

Do you have a picture of the ones you got? Are they the Fel Pro MS90000?
