3" dual exhaust to much for stock 351W?

I had a single 3" exhaust put on my '89-351W a couple months ago and now want a deeper dual exhaust sound. I went to the place I had it done today and they said "no problem we will just run another 3" pipe back and go with two 24" glasspacks for $160". He did say I would loose a little bottom end. Is this way to big for a stock engine, or will it help it breath? Not sure what to do. Don't really want to spend the money on a whole new complete system.

Aaron

P.S. If this will work, should I get a crossover tube. between them?

A single 3" is plenty to let a stock motor breath so adding twice as much pipe again isn't going to produce any more HP. Is this pipe bent in a hydraulic bender? If so then the end result is more like 2.5" pipe anyway so it's not as oversized as it may sound.

it will work fine and would sound good to but you will lose some low end torque. some backpressure is good for low end torque. if your not really doing any heavy towing and just want the sound then you'll be fine. cross over pipesi have been told by many will gain some hp i dontknow for sure about torque. the main reason for them is for scavenging. basically when when onepipe has pressure flowing through it, it will create somewhat of a vacuum in the pipe that dosen't have pressure from combustion. hope this helps

Paul, I'm not looking for more HP I just want a good deep louder tone. Right now it basically sounds stock with the 3" through a turbo muffler. Should I just throw a 18" tip on it? Would that help. I don't want to loose any more low-end. Not real impressed with it anyways power-wise. Thanks!

Ditch the mufflers and get the crossover, it's more sound but not quite as raspy as 2 single pipes. The crossover smooths it out a bit. Thats what I have on my mustang, but with 2.5" pipe.

I have dual 3inch on my truck and I don't notice enough low end power loss to lose sleep over.It has a real nice sound to it also.Wish I had faster internet so I could upload a video.
