If its a rust bucket I wouldnt pay 3k, its just a pile of parts on wheels at that point. Also, with rust and interior screwed you are likely buying yourself a pile of electrical headaches.
I paid $1500 for my 89 CC. Its a n/a 7.3 IDI, e4od (is that right? i cannot remember right now), large D60 in the front, good interior, 120,000 original miles (when I got it).
I have a Banks Sidewinder Turbo (which i just had rebuilt) to put on it. I just put new 35" Toyo's on it.
After the turbo is on, I wouldn't think of selling it for as little as $3000. After seeing what the "cash for clunkers" sent to the wrecking yards. I would almost bet that our truck gain value again. just my 2 cents.
I also agree with Darrin's parts/price break down. Around me small D60 fronts are going for $750+ and the large for $1200+
I should proof read before I post. What I meant to say was.....
"I stole my truck for $1500"
Now for an explanation.
The steering box was bad, the glow plug relay's fuseable link had melted, and the fuel solenoid was bad. I had to remove the spring on the plunger to get it running to drive her home.
