I have a ranger that will not start out in first gear when placed in drive, if low is selected it locks up as though it is in two gears. I replaced the valve body and shift solenoids with n change in symptoms. No debris in pan, trans overhauled 30,000 miles ago, o-drive works. Any ideas? thanks Rich

 

I would guess that there was dirt, lint, unseen debris or foreign matter left inside the transmission during rebuild. These particles are now jamming the valves in the valve body.

Just a guess I'm not an expert on transmissions, there's some issue with the 5-speed auto trans anyway. As you probably know having had it rebuilt once already.

Have you had the tranny computer scanned for trouble codes, if so, post All of the code numbers.

Are you certain the TRS is ok, the linkage to it is properly adjusted & the wiring & electrical connector to it are ok????
