4wd automatic transmission AOD and C6 are they same length

Well talk to my friend he say that aod in his 91 F150 which have plow. It been make put it into drive it would jerk a sec, then go kinda like stall and go.

And my bronco have aod so I am concerned about aod don't last long enough.

I was think swap C6 but heard some people say won't work if you change driveshaft length and cross member.

I want know if anyone done swap aod for C6 in f150 or Bronco? What it need to change to make work?

Would aod's transfer case fit C6?

The AOD is claimed to be well supported in the aftermarket that it can be made as good as if not better than the factory C-6.

I do believe the AOD and the C-6 are approximately the same length. You can use the C-6 transfer case on the AOD provided that the bolt pattern is the circular 6 bolt pattern with the locating pin and the AOD/C-6 output shaft has the same spline count as the female input shaft of the transfer case. In a 4WD you should be able to reuse driveline parts, 2WDs though tend to be a different story but that is not what you asked about though.

You will need the appropriate flex plate for the C-6, AOD, and engine combination. You CANNOT use a C-6 flexplate on the AOD and vice versa.

Ahh!! Very helpful to me as well! I'm doing some research to make sure I can use a transfer case on an A4OD for a 4WD swap..

I SHOULD be ready to start buying some used parts from the scrap yard to start my conversion!! -=SOON=- I want to do the transfer case first, and I would like to reuse my transmission: 1: Because it has been good to me thus far (Shifts great no black clutch dust in the oil.. no slipage) and 2: because I don't feel like spending the time and money rebuilding a junkyard C6 trans to fit my truck. just more money I REEEALLLLY don't wanna spend..
