Auxiliary Input Converter for 2003 Expedition EB
I'm a Sirius radio user and have a Stiletto2 installed in my 03 Expedition with a Proclip mount. The Expedition stock radio does not have an AUX button or input jack, so I have been using an FM direct connector to tune the Stiletto2 on a vacant FM radio channel.
The sound has been OK, but is not as clear as a regular FM station and is no where near CD quality. After much research, I purchased a FRDN-AUX/100 auxillary input converter from TSS-Radio.
The Aux converter is a black box with RCA jack so you can connect any audio device. It came with a "Y" harness that plugged directly into the 20 pin jack in the back of the Ford OEM radio. The original 20 pin connector that was removed from the radio is then plugged into a female connector on the Y harness.
There are two additional wires from the Y harness for power and ground. I spliced the power wire into the power wire for the cigarette lighter socket that is on the passenger side of the main console. I grounded the other wire to a threaded bolt inside the dash.
I used a cable with right & left male RCA plugs on one end and 1/8" stereo plug on the other to connect the Aux converter to my Stiletto2.
Once the dash was put back together, there was a remarkably noticeable improvement in audio quality. The Aux input device places another input after the CD labeled DVD AUX. For example, when going through the inputs by pressing the button on the steering wheel, it lists AM, FM1, FM2, CD, and DVD AUX (with the new Aux input installed).
I can even plug in my ipod Touch or any other audio device that uses a 1/8" input plug. Nice!

Sounds like a good plan. You might also post this in the audio/video section of this forum for those looking for the same solution. This section can be found here.
