Bypass front tank

I have a 97F250 with dual tanks. When I use the back tank the front fills to overflowing. I would like to only use the back tank since the guage works on the back tank but not the front and I don't need two tanks of fuel.

Is there a way to bypass the front tank so that it does not fill up when the rear tank is used. I don't want to replace the front tank sending unit.

There are three hoses connecting to the front tank. I assume that one is the supply line, another is the return line, but what is the third line?

Can I remove all three from the tank and plug them?

Thanks for the help.

Yes disconnect the lines at the tank and make plugs for them, I did so with some studs. The 3rd line is a vent plug that too.

Does this also happen but in reverse ? When you fill up the front tank some goes into the rear tank? I only use the front and the switch is set to front tank and the fuse pulled.. Is any gas overflowed into the rear?

Yes.. the crossflow problem can happen both ways, back to front or front to back. The FDM is the same in both tanks with straight hose between them and a T fitting going to the motor.

I've got steel lines, how do you plug those? I don't want to ruin them, just plug 'em off for now.

Get a couple engine studs, cut the threads off 1 end and grind it down so it can be retained by the fuel line clip.
