$400 or cash offer. about 4 miles away. tires hold air, cab decent, chassis decent, hydraulics work, but water jacket has crack in it, a bit of fender rot, and no title. I thought it would be nice to get it for a parts truck for my F1's and the F6 and F8 of my uncle's. Money's tight, perhaps too tight, the wife is furious about reading the email (CL response), and I want it! Heck, the hood is better than mine, lol. Seller says I have til the end of this week.

Scott - We've all been through it I bet. Sometimes the timing is just wrong. Also, since most guys are in the same boat right now, maybe it'll still be available when you get the wife seeing it your way. Maybe see if you could sell off pieces to make back the purchase price. Whatever you do, just hang in there. Stu

Kevin, that was the plan, but she intercepted the email.

Thing is, I've been wanting a yard truck to replace my dead '85 F150. With the PTO and such already there, a wrecker bed would fit nicely.

Hey, if you buy it and decide to part it out, I'll help out with the purchase price. I could use the running boards!

Wink

I used to try and buy all of these old trucks that I ran in to. I finally got rid of all but about 4 (which I keep, just cuz life don't feel right without that many) but I still run into them all the time. Just last week I stumbled across a neat, running F-5, with hydrolic dump and 2-speed axel that belongs to a cemetary WAY out in the sticks. They use it to pile the dirt on after digging a fresh hole and holding it until after the funeral. Stuck among the trees WAY out back waitin' for ceremony.
I've got enough, I'm gonna let this one go.
BTW, I find if ya mope around for a couple a days when she asks whats-a-matter, ya just say ya saw another one. Somebodys gotta save these ole boys from the crusher.
usually worx. LOL.
If she usually intercepts emails, maybe I could send ya one inviting you to the congratulating dinner for being the local guy who most often 'saves' em.

Often one’s heart does not follow the voice of reason.
<o></o>
I know the feeling. It’s difficult to have one’s dream slip from our grasp especially when within such close proximity.
<o></o>
But happiness is only a state of mind and must be placed into the proper perspective to be lasting. Ranting/venting is cathartic and should allow you to arrive at the right decision.

Scott, I can't help with the truck problem, been there a few times. I've gotten myself into trouble a couple of times until I sold truck parts for twice as much as I bought the truck for.

So here where I have suggestion for you other problem. Get a free email account and configure your email program to only to retrieve it when you want to, not automatically with the other account(s). Or retrieve them remotely, most free emails like Yahoo you can retrieve your emails via their site. Now you'll be able to correspond without the missus knowing.

I'm lucky, my wife doesn't mess with the interned unless she has to. She thinks it'll suck here brain out or something.

You could do what I did. I screwed up my wifes computer (lost her valuable work stuff) so many times I had to get one of my own!
The wink,
The nod,
The PLAN!...slim

Offer to store it for the guy in return for first refusal if he gets another offer.

Sometimes, you got to play for time.

It's all in the approach. $400 with a free delivery is a deal. This concept and the advantages need to be explained. My wife still huffs and puffs when I bring a truck home, but I've only had one truck (out of about 8) that I lost money on. She has a smile ear-to-ear when I make money on a truck.

You could easily get your $400 back (and more) out of that truck if you part it out or sell as a whole.

I would agree with Bob on the free email account.
