I knew they were too big, the back ones. Had the machinists cut them down this morning, so, I'm good to go now. Should start fitting the cab tonight or tomorrow. Depends on how it fits over the transmission.
It is always nice to have easy access to machinist that know what they are doing. Good luck with the cab......
So, time to see how this thing fits. Decided to rig up a lift with the engine hoist. It worked, but, it was really, really unstable! I'll come up with a better plan next time. Anyway, set the cab on, and, found a few areas of conflict.
Had to cut a hole for the transfer case shifter. This thing stick way out, so, I'm going to have to come up with a plan. The linkage is cast, so, no cutting and welding. May just have to heat the shifter, and bend it so it's out of the way.
Surprisingly, there were no problems with the transmission hitting anywhere. The transfer case is another story. This thing is doing it's damn best to be a pain in my butt! Of course, its hitting on the cab. And in the worst spot, right on the floor support. So, I had to notch it out, and weld back in pieces to retain its strength. But, now the cab sits down where it's supposed to. Nice to finally have this done!
I had to bend the shifter in my 89 f 350 when I did the body lift.
I used a oxy/Act torch, and a vice.
Looks like you will be able to use the shifter boot from my truck.
Good thing on the boots, espc the trans shifter, that one is specific to that shifter, and looks like poop if you try to use anything else
Been there, done that
Do you need a picture of how the "altered"4x4 shifter comes through the floor from the bottom of the cab?
Charlie, shoot me a pic when you get a chance. I'm going to take a closer look at that linkage. If there is enough on there, I may have the machinists here cut the linkage back, drill the holes, and mill the grooves for the shifter. That would move it a little bit back out of the way.
Okay, just a quick update. I removed those engine perches I modified, decided to back-weld them, to strengthen them even more. Then, coated them in POR-15, and Eastwood's Chassis Black, then bolted them back up.
