Talking PO fixes... laugh or cry? Anyone got a steering wheel??

So as I am getting the '57 roadworthy, I pulled the steering wheel to fix the turn signal switch. Good news is that the turn signals work!!! Bad news is the following....should I laugh or cry??? It was held in with a cotter key thru the steering shaft!!! Anyone have a "better" original wheel they would all but donate to my low buck ride???
BTW, I think that is 5min epoxy with a J.B Weld kicker!!!

The rubbed part in the second picture is where the canceling pawl is supposed to engage....no wonder the switch didn't work!!!

Looks like Guerrilla Glue to me on half of it... wood glue...

lol one step up (maybe) from a crescent wrench for a wheel

btw, has the truck been in an accident? I can only see it breaking like that if it had been and the PO held on really hard... or was like 500 lbs.

There's a guy here in San Diego that occasionally advertises some NOS parts for 57-60 F100s on Craigslist, one of the parts is a brand new steering wheel. Not sure what he's asking but it would probably be worth a look.

I figured I wasn't alone with the cooter-bobbed trucks out there!!! I would really just like to find a replacement steering wheel (condition does not matter...anything is better than what I have!!!).

Really, a coathanger???? WOW....I am a metallurgist and that is just bad, bad, bad!!!
