Most of my trucks will start on a hot summer day easily without pushing the glow plug button, but I have one 6.9 that even after driving it and the engine is still hot, it won't start without glow plugs, which is a major problem since it doesn't have manual glow plugs and they won't come one without raising the hood and crossing out the solenoid, then it starts. Why is this if the engine is hot? Its not leaking down, has plenty of fuel, even after sitting for a week or two it starts right up, but after getting hot it won't start and doesn't want to start even with glow plugs sometimes. SOmetimes I have to let the engine cool all the way back down before I can get it to start.
No tellin how old, come to think of it the two trucks I have that start without glow plugs both have brand new pumps. I wouldn't have thought they got weak so to speak, I thought they just went bad, but I guess they do when they get old enough.
lol now its an 1100 dollar truck!!!!the thing about it is the new pumps will probably wear out again before the motor does.as many idi's as you have you could probably invest in the equipment to rebuild them and pass on some savings to us too.
Forget the equipment, I need the time, as cheap as I've been buying these for, I'm going to start buying another one everytime they quit, before long I'll have my own IDI junkyard, then I can sell you guys parts!
