The Long Journey Begins (long post with pics)

73CaliF100, I've drooled over pictures of your truck before.
As hard as it is to believe, my "pumpkin" looked pretty much like yours when I first got it. Eleven years of constant use followed by thirteen years of basically what amounts to neglect and abandonment have really taken their toll.
I hope that I have a "phoenix" (No, not the Pontiac!) and a new '73 F100 will rise from the ashes of the old.
Wish I had taken better care of her over the years. But, as I always say, hindsight is always 20/20.

Great to see mike!! Are those lines Application fit....per say? More info would be great. I'll probably make my own brake lines, but might be interested in the fuel lines IF they are application Specific?
as you know, I'm done with the frame/suspension phase of my resto, and gearing up for a winter of body work etc.
Good luck to ya man!

That's what I am planning on doing. The body could be fixed but the amount of time and money that it would take makes that impracticle.
My next assignment has me headed out west so while I'm out there I'll be looking for a rust free truck. If I find a decent one I'll buy it and ship it back home.
As for the lines, yes they are application specific. These are stainless steel by Inline Tube. The quality is top notch. As for fit, obviously I haven't installed them yet but I have compared them to the ones that are on the truck now and they look good. www.inlinetube.com
I've gotten the cab and bed off and have pressure washed the chassis. I soaked it in simple green and let it sit overnight then hit it with the pressure washer. It came out pretty good.
This is about as far as I can go for now. I have to leave on my work assignment this coming Sunday and will probably be gone untill just before Christmas.
When I get back home I plan on sandblasting the frame and then start on the rebuilding.
I'm going to post some pictures of my progress in a few minutes....so stay tuned.

Looks like you have a lot of good stuff to start with, love hearing how Punkin just kept going! THAT is awesome! I agree with frigerator.... maybe look for a donor,,, I will gladly find you one out here (rust-free Cali truck), because that is ALOT of cancer to fix, I had to retire my first 66 due to the midwest rust, I transfered all the dash and good stuff to my "new" one! Much easier than fixing the cancer!

I should end up just east of Oakland in Pittsburgh/Antioch area, but sometimes my plans have to change at the drop of a hat. I get sent all over the country to do work at Power Plants and occasionally my plans get changed because of emergencies or unexpected outages.
I'm looking for an air conditioned cab with an 8 foot bed, no/minimal chrome, two wheel drive.

I personally think orange would look good on the truck. Maybe paint the roof white to compliment the Explorer vinyls on the body. Just whatever you do, don't go with the baby-poop brown interior color that the punkins were notorious for
A 390 is a good route to go if you're looking to replace the 360 with something bigger. Direct bolt-in, no hassle, and looks like a 360 so it's all good!
You're off to a good start with all the parts you have for it so far and it looks like you have a fun project in store! Imagine when it's done! That'll be cool to tell people that you racked up 400,000 miles on it before restoring it - now THAT's a testimony!

Actually, whats pictured is just a small sample of the parts I have. I've been buying parts since the mid 90's and stockpiling them.
I always refered to the pumpkin as my "retirement" project but I decided that I didn't want to wait that long.
Most of my parts are NOS Ford.
As for the color, I'm leaning towards a metallic med/dark blue or metallic red with a black and gray interior, but that is down the road timewise and my taste can change.
The original interior was also orange, same shade as the exterior. It was, in my opinion, just too much orange, really overpowering.
