Trailer Wiring Harness

picked up the new 2010 F250 Crew short bed Lariat FX4. My 7 pin trailer hookup does not work. Plugged in the tested and there's no power to it. I checked all of the fuses. Cannot tell whether the relays are good unless I buy new ones. Before I waste a day at the dealer, is there something I am missing?

When you say no power to it, I am assuming that you turned your headlights on, and checked for the corresponding pin to be powered, and blinkers/ pin intermittent power. corect?

You wont have power if the truck is just sitting there off.

It seems strange that all the circuits would be dead unless it was disconnected?

yes, all power in the truck was on....headlights, blinker, tail light. I traced the harness back to the connection point and all was connected.

something is disconected somewhere. I would also check fuses, but if the lights work on the truck then???

Turn on the lights and trace back with a probe where the power stops ior starts. Thats all you can do. I wouldnt think they would be on a relay? but I might be wrong

I didnt realize it was a 2010... DOnt mess with it, Take it back, You could void the warranty.

It might have a sensor in the computer that, when hooked to a trailer, power goes to the plug?

Update: I pulled the plug receiver to check the wiring. The harness actually plugs into the rear of the plug receiver. It was heavily greased up with a vaseline type gel. I pushed the harness on tightly until it snapped into place. My trailer lights are now active. Usually the wiring harness is hard wired to the plug receiver. This is why I never thought to check it.
