VERY NICE, JRB65!
You and your boys should be very proud of all your hard work & effort. Too cool....
What is the small rectangular piece (approx. 1/4" x 1/4" x 2" long) located directly beneath your instrument cluster and above the steering wheel column?
Does your dash NOT have any speaker grille or slots in the top?

I agree about the aircleaner but it was cheap and redily available so I went for it. Next time Im over at Tony's Ford Truck Parts I will pick up an original aircleaner. Are they Oilbath or Paper element? Not sure on the Duraspark Ignition but would be curious to know if that is original to this truck. I thought it was out of a newer truck and adapted to this one. Thanks for any info you could give me on this.

Its just part of the instrument bezel. The truck has no hole for speaker and no hole in the dash for a stereo. I kind of like it that way. After looking under the dash at some point someone Cobbled in a stereo and a speaker and the speaker is still under the dash and the braket that held the radio is still there but the stereo is gone. I thought about having a local radio outfit make a radio bezel for the glovebox and put a stereo in there but I kind of like the sound of the wind rather than the tunes. If I want to listen to tunes I can get in my 85 Toyota with the blaupunkt.

There was no such thing as electronic ignition (DuraSpark) until model year 1974 when it was first installed in all the passenger cars, some of the trucks.
Some trucks didn't have it until 1976.
Some has installed a DuraSpark electronic ignition in this truck.
This style of dizzy cap was first used in 1976, so the DuraSpark ignition is no earlier than that, because not only is the cap different, but so is the dizzy itself.
If the OP passes along the ID number off the ignition module, I can tell him what years it was used. The ID number will be something like this: D9VE-12A199-AA.

The original air cleaner was an Oil Bath.

BarnieTrk,
Its just part of the instrument bezel.
I wondered about that, but I didn't know since both of my '65s have the standard (round speedo) instrument clusters.
The truck has no hole for speaker and no hole in the dash for a stereo.
Interesting. It seems that some of the '65 dashes came with a grille, or with punched slots, or without either.
My '65 F-250 has the punched slots in the top of the dash even though it never received a factory radio.
I kind of like it that way.
I agree - I like it that way myself.

Bill,
Can you shine some light on the when/why some '61-'66 dashes got grilles, some got stamped slots and some didn't?
JRB65,
Was your truck originally equipped with the Custom Cab trim package or did you just add the parts of the CC package that you wanted?
The reason I ask is - as I recall - if it was a factory-equipped CC, it would have the padded dash too......
BarnieTrk
P.S.
Looking again at your pics, I see the chrome trim strip along the mid-line of the dash face - which TYPICALLY was used as a padded dash moulding. Maybe your truck HAD a padded dash and sometime/somewhere it was removed...?

I wasn't thinking of a STEREO radio, rather I was only thinking of the normal AM radio of the '65 vintage with the single speaker beneath the center of the dash.

If this truck did have a padded dash, I dont see where it was attached and yes it is an original CC package. I am now wondering if at some point in time if this truck had the 8 Track option in it? I bet that would be hard to come by if I wanted to put it back in and $$$$.

Thanks for the info on the Ignition and the Air Cleaner. I was wondering if there is a newer model of air cleaner that I could adapt to my truck that has a paper element for a air cleaner? I have never dealt with one of those Oil Bath air cleaners and am not sure that I want to. I kind of thought that electronic Ignition was from something newer, it seems to work ok so Im not going to mess with it. Thanks for any help you can give me with this.

The way this is typed, a might think that Ford did offer a stereo radio in 1965, but a hole had to be cut in the dash to install it.
The hang on (under the dash) 8 track stereo tape player was not available until 1968. The only thing Ford offered 1961/66 was the plain jane AM radio...without pushbuttons.
As far as the speaker cut out in the dash, garbz2 commented a while back that 1961/62's have no provision in the dash for a speaker..at all, if the radio was not factory installed.
On 1963/66's the speaker provision (punched out holes in dash) are there, but they're covered with a blank off plate if no radio was factory installed.
JRB65: Replacing the air cleaner. Look for one from a 1967 and later F100/350 with either a 240 or 300. 90% of these trucks come with a dry type air cleaner, use a paper filter element.
Or...if you can find one: 1965/72 LTD/Galaxies came with 240's as standard equipment and used a dry air cleaner.

JRB65,
Although I know there was an 8-track/radio option for some '60s era Ford CARS, I don't believe an 8-track player was ever a factory option for ANY model '61-'66 F100/250 trucks. However, I wouldn't be surprised if some previous owner may have installed an aftermarket unit under the dash in the past 44 years.
I'm fairly certain that the oil bath air cleaner was the only type air cleaner offered on the F100 in '65/'66 regardless of the engine package. However, I'm sure it wouldn't be that difficult to locate many styles of aftermarket air cleaners that would fit your carb throat diameter.
Although it's on a V8, I like the one in this pic -- it's different from the norm.

BarnieTrk: This is what I was refering to when I said no stereo. The way this is typed, a might think that Ford did offer a stereo radio in 1965, but a hole had to be cut in the dash to install it.

I gottcha... ...and no 8-track option was as I suspected.

Interesting.... then I wonder why my '65 F250 (w/o a radio) has "punched speaker slots" but doesn't have any signs of having a blank off plate. No screw holes, no indention around the slots to inset a grille blockoff plate, nada...??
