Rear Main Seal/Oil Leak

Hi, I have a 2005 f-150 with the 5.4l with 52,000 miles I purchased the vehicle in february and noticed after a month that it was leaving oil spots in my driveway. Brought it to the dealership they said the oil pan gasket was leaking. Ford then replaced this. noticed again still oil spots. brought it in again ford determined oil pan was defective replaced oil pan due to irregular surface and also replaced gasket. Service adviser called told me that the pan was replaced and they were going to test drive it and check in the morning make sure oil leak is gone. Following day Service advisor called and informed me that there was a single drip of oil under the truck after siting and requested I drive the truck for the weekend and then bring back so they can re check. Bring truck back they recheck and say still oil leak. dealership determined rear main seal had to be replaced. wait a couple days ford called and said rear main seal had been replaced but, truck was still leaking oil from between the motor and transmission. Dealership said they were waiting on ford engineers to give them a solution. Another day passed and then called back and said Ford is recommending they removed the transmission again and install a sleeve around the crank where the seal goes. Now I'm waiting til monday to get my truck back. "hopefully" . Not sure if anyone else has had problems with oil leaks in the rear of the engine or if this is just a peculiar problem. Starting to get stressed since my truck has been at the dealership for almost two weeks now. would be alot more stressed but, they gave me a 2009 f-150 as a rental.

I too have a 2005 w/ 40,000 miles on it, but it hasn't leaked or burn any oil, and thus far this is the first I have heard of this problem that you have. I can see if it had 152,000 miles on it. Sometimes a rear main seal can leak if there is rear crank shaft bearing wear, but I would hope that is not the case. Good luck w/ the repair and let us know how things go.
