transmission
I have a question to ask. My transmission is shot to hell it is a m5r2 the mazda one 5 speed. Alittle info on my truck i have 4.10 gears and an eaton posi. I am going to be ordering the caltracs thanks to lewis for the info. I am going to be doing engine work but not for a few months but i am looking into low 13s or high 12s.
So my question is can the m5r2 handle it, if not can it be upgraded either clutch plates or others or should i just go with a better transmission if i go that route what kind can i use and will it bolt right up to it with my old transmission housing. I would love to stick with the m5r2 cause it was a good hard transmission?

The ZF is only a direct bolt-in in 4-wheel drive form. It requires a driveshaft change (and possibly a crossmember change) for the 2-wheel drive trucks.
If you're never going to haul or tow anything, you could get a car transmission (T-5 or T-56, etc.), which would allow for quicker shifts, but again, it would not be a direct swap.
