Red face ordered dieselsite coolant filtration system

After reading about how some sand from the casting could be left over in the water jackets, I ordered a "dieselsite coolant filtration system". Before I start any work and makes mistakes. Has anyone got some advice as to installing. I mean any does and don't. Maybe best location, any tips at all. Thanks in advance.

Pretty straighforward...just follow the directions...shouldn't have a problem. In other words, Don't try to re-invent it....it works. You will lose some coolant. Place a towel under the hoses before making your cuts. Might want to pick up a gallon of 50/50 ...not sure if Motorcraft Premium Gold has a pre-mix solution or not...but you will need some....due to some loss after cutting hoses and filling the new hoses and filter cavities. Post the results of your first filter change. Best place is left of radiator next to passenger battery.

If your planning on coolant flush and replacement now is the time. Flush 2 to 3 times with distilled water. Drain and add the correct amount of straight coolant and then just top off with distilled and you will have the proper ratio.

While you are flushing the system, remove the overflow/fill tank and clean it out....I found a lot of sand accumulated inside the tank....Pretty easy to remove...couple of screws and the hoses. One hose is hidden behind the tank.

If you're going with the flush...then like mentioned above...buy about 15-20 gallons of distilled water (dollar general/dollar tree/food market...about $1 each)...drop the lower rad hose...drain into a five gallon bucket (keep in mind the flow will come from both directions the hose end and the rad) you will also see some of the casting sands right away at the bottom of the bucket.....fill 'er up with distilled water only...fire it up and take for a spin to open up the thermo....drop the rad hose a do it again...after a few times it will begin to clear up...after dropping the rad hose the last time tighten everything back up (remember to check the lower rad hose protection sleeve to make sure its in place)....then with approx 3 gal of distilled water remaining in the system...just add 3 gal of Zerox G-05 or Motorcraft Premium Gold Ethylene Glycol. Both are 100,000 mile protection. Mix what you have left with distilled water 50/50 and keep on the shelf for topping off if needed.

I have had no problems, however there seems to be 1 or 2 posts lately stating that Ford is starting to split straws. Don't know if that is fact or not. The filter is a bypass system and can in no way affect the cooling system in anyway but good.

I installed my own and three days later my a/c line rubed up against the glow plug module fins. Took it to the dealer and they said that owner before me had a aftermarket coolant filter installed and they pried the a/c line out of the way for the filter which caused the hose to rub up against the fins on the module. They said it had been that way for a while. I told them i just installed the coolant filter three days prior to the incident. Needless to say they still denied me the warranty work. They wanted 700 bucks to fix the hose and charge the a/c. I did it for 48 bucks and a 12 pack.

Thanks all. This is good information to keep in mind and some great tips on the flush. I am hoping to get delivery of the system next week, so if the weather is good I'll be drinking beer I mean installing the coolant filter system.

Headviking...actually, if you stop by Home Depot or Harbor Freight, you can pick one up for about $11...good for cutting PVC/Tubing and hoses....nice clean cut. Incidentally...my truck been to three separate Ford dealers and each time they asked about it. Only asked because they thought it was professionally installed and looks like it should be there...they also commented they wish more people would take such good care of their Diesel.
