Diesel in a 65???

Ok, I am new to the Diesel arena. I am looking at them all the time on the net and finally talked my wife into letting me get one, but I have to wait 1-2 years to get my F250.
So, I have a 65 F100 in the garage with no engine or trans. Just a shell waiting to be worked on after my other project (67 Mustang) is done.
I thought about putting a diesel in that 65. Nothing special or too heavy duty. It will be a daily driver when its done, and if need be have to be able to tow something (the 67 Mustang) in the event we move.
I have heard about 4 and 6 cylinder diesels but dont know much about them and cant find much of anything online about anyone putting one in a F100. That is mostly what I would like to do as I do not want to go through a myriad of suspension issues.
So if anyone out there has any angles on this or any info that would help. Maybe Im reaching too far and all with this project, so dont be afraid to tell me Im crazy.
The 65 is stock with twin I beams in the front and leaf spring in the rear. I think it had a 352 in it originally.
Im not looking to run a ton of electronics either, if it can be done, when its all said and done - easy and clean looking.

Thanks. <!-- / message --><!-- BEGIN TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig --><!-- END TEMPLATE: ad_showthread_firstpost_sig -->

1965project,
Welcome to FTE and the IDI diesel forum.

We have a member here that has a 6.9 in a 70's model truck if I remember right.

I am sure he will be along shortly to tell you what he ran into.

The IDI diesel is a good cantidate for such swaps since it only needs one wire to run.
