No problem, I`ve moved your post from the intro forum to here for a tech
reply.

i know which wires to use on the alarm its self, but what i am looking for is just a wiring schematic, or tell me what wires are needed on my ignition switch....to be more specific what wires am i looking for, i need to find the wire leading to the starter or solenoid, the foreman told me its probably a yellow wire...really if someone has a wiring diagram for me to look at it be more helpful.

Thanks in advance for any kind of help.

ps i don't have electric locks or windows, so none of the other stuff i would normally hook up, is really needed

I got a good deal from these guys, they're on ebay sometimes:

Lloyds Auto Liturature available for 1981, Fordtruck, Wiring Diagrams

I understand the Haynes manual has halfway-decent wiring diagrams, too.

I for some reason suspect you're interested in the red/blue-stripe wire that activates the
starter via the solenoid but I don't know anything about Ford (or any) alarms....

The Older Haynes manuals (out of Print) have sections of the Factory wiring diagrams. Although they are not complete. Thanks to Franklin for the heads up on this.

The newer Haynes manual that you can buy today, has the Mitchell Diagrams in it and they are not as good.

Red/Blue stripe wire is indeed the starter solenoid wire.

Manual Transmission: Red/Blue stripe wire goes from Ignition switch, to a "Y" splice where one goes direct to the Starter Solenoid and the other end goes to the Ignition Module.

Automatic Transmission: Same as above, except before the "Y" splice, it goes to the Neutral Safety Switch located on the transmission, so you cannot start it in gear, etc...

The Yellow wire off the Ignition switch, is the Main power wire from the battery.

As for the alarm triggering from the Dome light. That is the Black/Light Blue Wire coming off of the Door Jam switches, or Underdash courtesy lamps, if equipped, or dome lamp etc...

Be aware that Custom models without the courtesy lamp option group, does not have a door jam switch for the passenger side door as standard equipment. This can be put in quite simply as the wiring is there behind the kick panel, and/or Vent. 1980-1981 Custom Models with the courtesy lamp group, and Ranger, Ranger XLT and Ranger Lariat models have the passenger door switch as standard equipment.

Also be aware, just so there isn't any confusion, that Ranger was a Trim Designation name for the F-series before 1982.

So I have been telling everyone to get a Haynes, but they are not like the one I have? Didn't know that.
