Hello chaps superduty in England

Hello from England. Not many big trucks here so I bought one of yours its an 03 F250 xlt crew 6.0 psd long bed. I wanted an F350 dually but the DVLA man said no. Country must be too small. Any way me and another bloke have one so not much knowledge on them here so im glad I found this site.Time has come for some bigger tyres as everyone allways says my tyres look too small. Theres not much to choose from here so I got some Maxxis creepy crawler 37". Not really a fan of Huge lifts and big flares so im trying to get them to fit with as small a lift as possible. Heres what ive done so far.

Just found out I cant post pics, which is a shame as Ive taken a few of what im trying to do.

Leveling leaf spring in the front imported from USA.Fitted one 37" maxxis to my spare wheel rim to try for size front and rear to see where it catches or touches. what ive found is 37" tyre is acually 36" maximum. Fitted to a std 7x16 rim it looks like I need some 8" minimum 9" would be better. No one sells them here so Ill have to get some from USA again or get some agri steels made to correct offset. This means they would have an extra hubcentric plate and row of bolts Hummer H1 style.

The Standard steel wheel 7x16 back space might have to stay the same or increase a max of 1/2" or it gets close to the steering arm. Looks like any extra width of rim has to be on the out side.

Tyre on std rim on full lock only just touches the spring. same back space but wider rim would help this.

Tyre misses the front bumper by miles as its moved forward to hide my warn 16.5 winch.

Tyre rubs on the rear of the front wheel well and will get worse with wider rim. Do you guys move your front axles forward at all?

Tyres are within the body or wheel arch but wont be with a wider rim so ill need a narrow OE looking arch extension of about an inch. something that can be painted and looks stock.

Why cant I post pics is it because im new? Please could a moderator please make an exception and maybe feel sorry for a PSD a long way from home. Im practically on my own over here, that and diesel here cost $11 of your expensive dollars for one of your small gallons.

Welcome. I think the picture posting thing is based on your post count. For some reason 10 post rings in my head as the break to get a signature or post pictures, but it could be 25.

To clear 35" (315/75r16) you need a minimum of a 2" leveling kit, but it's better with a 4" lift. Your 37s should take an additional 2" of lift, so you could get by with a 4" but you'd be further ahead to go 6"+.

Actually the tires should rub a little less with a wider tire, 7" wide wheels will round out the 13" wide tires. Going to a 9-12" wide wheel will straighten the side walls out a little and kind of flatten out the tread. Bushwacker, EGR and several other companies make Fender "extensions" that can give you 1.5-6" of additional coverage.

Welcome to FTE!

You can post pictures if they are hosted off-site.

Lots of folks use photobucket- it's free, and simple to use.

Welcome to FTE! Very true that we complain state-side about the cost of our fuel, but we do have it pretty good compared to some.

Bloody good of you to join us here across the great pond at FTE. Here in Canada our diesel costs $0.79 cents a litre. About $2.50 US a gallon. Where in England are you?

Are you seriously trying to put 37's on stock wheels?? Are you insane?

Honestly, I know you probably spent a bundle on your tyres (tires) but given all the extra expense you're going incur trying to fit those, you might just be better off getting some 305s or maybe 315s with your leveling kit.

Would also like to see some pix. It's gotta be fun driving even a stock SD over there. You've got to be a real oddity on the road. You could probably add a 3" body lift to stop the rubbing, combined with the levelling kit. You'll have to replace the rims with wider ones, maybe 9 or 10" wide. One question: Do people driving small cars still cut off guys driving Superduty's in England, or is that a North American thing...

Im in north England, 25 miles north of Manchester and 50 miles south of the Lake district.
I realize I need wider rims but I fitted just one tyre to my spare rim just so I could mount it and see what rim and offset I need. The 37 does fit on the 7x16 rim but it curves the tread and wouldnt get good mileage. Not many trucks like mine here I could drive a year and not see one but I do see a few Dodge Rams.I dont fancy a body lift but I might have to use one of those small 2"spring packs up front and some blocks at the rear so I need some longer U bolts.

as stated by ReAx, some bushwacker cut-outs would work for you. you can just do the mild 2" lift and use the 37's

use this thread for advice:

i think a few of them might prove my point

Hey welcome aboard Graham! Seeing as how there's very few PSD's in the UK, you definitely found a great site to help with any issues you may ever have with your truck. You should also check out the 03-07 6.0 forum further down the list. This site has saved me thousands (no, I'm not kidding!!) of dollars on maintenance. Enjoy your new beast and we hope to see you here often!

hey the photobucket thing worked thanks for that, just didnt come up to quick. Ill post some more tonight. Id like to say Ive saved thousands but I havnt had to do much in the 3 years Ive had it. Oil and filter changes front ball joints and pads and a rear disc. Rear disc was wrecked when a hand brake shoe retainer fell out.
