Exclamation Single Mom Looking for Help

5R55W TRANSMISSION!!!!!!!

Now I have seen that there are alot of problems with this transmission. I just bought my truck about 6 months ago. There is only 75,000 miles on it and the transmission went up. For whatever reason the 5R55W transmission is much more expensive then other ford models. I can't find this transmission ANYWHERE!!! Is it possible to put a different transmission into a 02 explorer xlt??

you have checked in the transmissions forum right? I'm sure you will get some responses on here soon! I personally don't know much about the 02 explorer-is the trans a automatic or a stick?-I'll call a buddy and have him check at crazy rays -to see if they have one in the lot! it's a pull and pay place!

Jr, I just did a Google search and it is for a 2 wheel drive, auto with the 4.0 V-6 in it. This tranny will not fit a Sport Trac.

No, I have a 2002 Ford Explorer XLT....but when I went to the car-part.com website you put in the year, make and model of your car. Tell them what you are looking for and its supposed to tell you all the vehicles that have that transmission.

Its 4.0 engine and its a 4wd. I have heard of people swapping transmissions to give it more power. Can I do that? If so, what can I swap it with?
