curb weight 66 f100

I was wondering if anyone could tell me the curb weight of a 1966 F100 with a V8. I have bought one and need to calculate the total towing weight to see if I am going to kill my 98 F150 V6. I plan to use a flatdeck trailer and will be going about 1500 miles.
Thanks,

Don't know for sure but I think it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 3700lbs. A google search might reveal something more accurate.
Good luck.

Different equipment can vary the weight, but as 37 posted 3700-4000 lbs would put you in the park. I think my 66 FE/C6 lwb is in the 3850 range.

I don't have any idea of the umph of the V6, but for a one time tow, hook it up and pull it home. If it were my 66 you could put the 98 on the trailer and haul ice down the road.

There is a photo in my gallery of mine and a 4X4 on a trailer.

Thanks guys,
I tried Google but finding the correct information was like looking for the pin I dropped on the lawn. My V6 is rated at 200 horse (+ a few maybe) so I was planning to put on a hitch and brake and add a tranny cooler. I am sure the truck will do it (best $2800 I've ever spent!) but my towing capacity is only 4600lbs, so just didn't want to be way over. Thanks again, I'll probably have a few more questions.

Tow ratings are guidelines for long term use. To give you something to use if you were buying a camping, horse or other trailer that would be used over and over. Your truck isn't going to lay over dead if you did a single more than 4600lb tow.

Get a class 3 hitch, check out your trucks electrical system to see if there is a plugin for lights and brakes. You may have a factory cooler already.

If it is cycling in and out of OD, shift to direct drive. You should be OK.

I've checked the weight of a pick up at a freeway weigh-station for commercial trucks before. At that time, many years ago, the scale was visible through the window so you could do this when it was closed. This will give you the actual weight of your truck.
