77 Highboy original hubcaps?

Hello, I own several dentsides and just bought a 1 owner 77 highboy. It is so perfectly unmolested and original that I want to keep it all stock. The only thing missing is the hubcaps, anybody got a pic of the correct hubcaps for it?
Built 11/76 - vinF26HCO40960.
Thank you for any info, Tim.

Part-time F250 4WD trucks never had hubcaps/wheel covers from factory.

Full-time F250 4WD trucks had the dog dish hub caps.

I'm not so sure these hub caps are original to the truck, they look like the '77-'79 F150 4X4 hub caps.

That style is what I was thinking of getting, I too am not sure that they belong on a 77. Wish I could find a dealer ad showing a 77 F250. Mine has the 205 case with lock outs, Im sure they came with hubcaps. The full time probably didn't have the hole in the front caps.
Thanks, Tim.

Those very hub caps you see on the ebay truck are available from DC, NPD and LMC but all three catalogs list them as being for '77-'79 F100/150 4x4's, they make no mention of the F250, the 77/79 F150's didn't have the big hubs like the 77 F250's but as you can see in the pics the hub caps clearly fit the big hub F250 so i don't know what the deal is.

Here's the deal...

These hubcaps were not used on any 1977/79's, they were only used from 1968 thru 1976.

1977/79 hubcaps are basically flat, these are not.

These hubcaps were not installed on the front wheels of 4WD's, either. Ford did not offer 4WD front hubcaps for F250's until 1978.

1959/77 F250 4WD: There aren't any.

C8UZ1130B .. Hubcap - Stainless Steel / 11 1/4" O/A Diameter.

Fits: 1968/76 F250 2WD / 1968/76 F250 4WD-REAR WHEELS ONLY / 1969/74 E300 / 1975/76 E250/350.

What someone has done is...they have taken two of these caps and cut out the centers, so the 4WD hubs will poke thru.

There's also no such thing as a F250 4WD "High Boy" Camper Special.

The hubcaps are illustrated here: 1973/79 FORD LIGHT TRUCK PARTS CATALOG / TEXT / SECTION 11 / PAGE 7.

I'll ask jermafenser, who has this catalog on a CD to scan and post.

Type 2 = 1968/76 / Type 12 = 1977/79.

Why are no less then three aftermarket suppliers listing that as a '77-'79 hub cap, that would take some determination to cut out a hole for the the HD44, but i suppose stranger things are possible.

I don't give a rats behind what some aftermarket parts suppliers say, the '73/79 Ford truck parts catalog says different.

I sold dozens of these hubcaps when the trucks were new to the market, so I don't need a parts catalog to know the difference.

The aftermarket parts suppliers weren't even in business back then.

The second I looked at the High Boy pic, I knew exactly what the part number of the hubcaps was, what they were used on.

C8UZ1130B was not used after 1976. There is no front hubcap listed for 4WD's that matches it.

There's also C8UZ1130A, same hubcap, except it's painted argent.

I asked jermafenser if he could post the pictures of the hubcaps from the catalog because I believe you are confusing the 1977/79 hubcaps with the 1968/76 hubcaps.

The 1977/79 hubcaps are much more plentiful, because they were used thru 1996.

There are DOZENS still available at dealers, which means the aftermarket parts suppliers may be selling GENUINE FORD originals.

The problem I've seen ever since I joined FTE is, most of y'all have no Ford parts catalogs, no sales brochures, so it's a guessing game on what fits what.

I was a Ford partsman for 35 years, have owned over 80 Ford vehicles and have been in the car hobby since 1956, so I know what's correct...and what ain't.

The 1973/79 FORD LIGHT TRUCK PARTS CATALOG is available on a CD from hipoparts.com for around 25 bucks.

No 1973/79 F100/F150 had dog dish hub caps on 4x4s...only wheel covers or center caps.

1973/76 'early' type hub caps for F250 FULL-TIME 4WD (Type 2):

1977/79 'later' type hub caps for F250 FULL TIME 4WD (Type 12):

=======================

The eBay link provided is WRONG on all counts.

Part-time F250 4WD NEVER came with hub caps nor wheel covers. They were bare from factory! If the truck had the Ranger XLT trim, the wheels were painted grey instead of white.

My 77 factory brochures show hubcaps on all, BUT the F250 4x4 has bare wheels

Well, I sure appreciate all of you chiming in. I kind of like the truck on ebay with the (wrong) older style hubcaps. It looks right to 99% of the people out there even if it isn't correct. I'll probably get a set of those and cut the center out on the front ones. If anybody at a show comments about them being wrong I'll just convert one of them into a hat for that person!

No, I'm going to use "type 2" in Jermafencer's post. The ones in your pic look like they probably wouldn't even clear the rear axle snout and are for 15'' wheels.
