Let me know your reviews of the product and what the tuner did for your truck. I'm torn between a damn Magnaflow and the tuner. Thnks in advance for your participation

I am running a 93 performance tune. It has given me lots of low end and a very noticeable difference in overall power. No increase in MPG.

I am completly happy with my X3. I have 87 economy, 87 Power, & 93 Power tunes. I use the eco tune when driving for work (paid by the hour and the mile), the 87 power for everyday driving/light loads, and 93 power when towing 7000lbs+ or just wanting to have some fun. Have not put an exhaust on, but can't imagine it helping the performance anywhere near as much as the programmer.

I have been thinking of getting a Y-Pipe though.

A tuner will give you the best bang for the buck of any mod. I like the X3 and the custom tunes. I had the X2 with my 05 Power Stroke and loved it. I have the X3 with my 06 F150 and it's even better. It's more user friendly and there are more things I can fine tune with it. Just a footnote, unless you are running some huge power, an exhaust will only give a better sound and lower EGT's if you're running a diesel. Tuner is the only way to get performance gains on a stock truck.

Just installed my X3 today (er...downloaded). All I can say is WOW! What a difference. Got it from IDP with the help of Ted and Eric. I was on my way to Moab last week and as luck would have it...got the tuner the day AFTER I left but when I got back, I went through the instructions, uploaded the firmware update, tune revisions, downloaded the tunes into my tuner and loaded one into the truck. All and all...15 minute job.

I punched it once and had my head slammed back into the headrest.

How do they mount up. Do you have to leave them attached to the vehicle or download the tune and detach?

I just got an SCT X3 from Mike at 5-star tuning (user fordmdb) for my '01 V10.

I have only put in the 87 octane custom (by Mike) performance tune, I have ebay headers, Volant CAI and ebay y-pipe and 3.73 gears.

It shaved off almost a FULL SECOND on my 0-60 times.

Before, it was running 9.7-10.4 0-60 times verified with datalogging with the X3, or 9.9 or so with my stopwatch, all on the same day.

After, I got 9.01 and 9.04 seconds on two runs one right after the other, again, same day (hour) that I did the stock 0-60's.

With the X3, you download the tune to the truck's computer, and disconnect the tuner.

The tuner can also be used to scan other Ford OBD-II vehicles. VERY nice.

I went with Tow, Street, and Extreme Race.

Moab kicked my butt this year. Broke my hitch, my trailer, two KTM bikes and my ego!

Well,With a good tune on the PCM you can get good results. Here's a copy/paste from a past post of mine:
Did 50-70mph runs because that's the typical speeds needed to pass another vehicle.
50-70 stock=5.29 seconds
50-70 tuned=4.68 seconds
That's an improvement of .61 seconds unloaded.

Then I hitched up 6000 lbs of travel trailer(30 ft long, and just over 11 feet tall),and repeated the same test.
Here's where proper tuning and power enrichment really shine:
Stock 50-70=13.51 seconds
Tuned 50-70=8.98 seconds
That's a HUGE improvement of 4.53 seconds. That's a long time to be on the opposite side of the road passing.
The OEM tune is terrible.

08 F250, 5.4, 4.10, 4X4, crew with short bed.

Got the X3 from Mike at 5 Star Tuning. Three canned tunes and three custom tunes.

So far I've only used the 87 performance and 91 towing. Major difference in daily driving and in towing.

Also did a flowmaster exhaust.

I don't believe that when you order it with custom tunes that it retains the "canned" tunes. You would have to download them to your computer and then send it back to have the custom tunes installed. Am I correct about this?

I do have SCT X3 5 Star Tuners for my 01 F250 V10 and 05 F150 V8. I am satisfied with them for everyday driving. They both have 87 Tow, 87 & 93 Performance Tunes.

If I did it over, I might look at the tuner that has the selector **** that installs on the dash. It will change tunes on the fly. I am not sure if it has the same adjustability as the SCT X3, but it carries more tunes.
