Sticky Breaks, ABS, Advance-Trac, and 4X4 Lights = Problem!

Posting this for a friend. I know nothing about the Explorer as I own an Expedition and generally hang in that forum. All I can ask is that you help this guy out or guide me to other related threads.

Thanks!

Here's what he asked me to post:

2005 Ford Explorer XLT
little over 48,000 miles
Sat for about 6-10 months before we bought it.

Rear breaks and rotors were changed about a month ago.

Car started to have a grinding noise so it was brought to a mechanic, front pads and rotors were changed along with the rear drivers side wheel barring. The grinding is gone now but when you come to a stop and then start going again it feels like the breaks are trying to grab for about 2-5 seconds, the ABS and advance trac lights come on, Info center reads check advance trac, and the 4X4 light starts to flicker. Turning the car off clears the lights but the problem re-occures.

My guess is one of the wheel speed sensors is dirty or damaged. The ABS, AdvanceTrac, and A4WD systems all use those sensors. One of them might have gotten damaged during the brake or wheel bearing work. I would call around to find a brake or repair shop that can pull ABS codes. They should be able to pinpoint which one of the sensors is the culprit. With AdvanceTrac there are sensors at all 4 corners rather than one on the differential for the rear wheels. Let us know what you find out.

Dragging brake could be a result of a sticking caliper or collapsing brake line. Sitting for 6 months can have that affect.
